Derrick Welsh, founder of Small Batch Clothing Co, smiling beside a woman and a black cat under a neon Small Batch Clothing Co and AcroPyramidia sign.
Our story

A big idea. Simple foundations.

I served just under six years in the Canadian Armed Forces, with the Regular Force and the Reserves. It was the best time of my life. Imagine college, except you travel the world while you do it, and you get to serve your country. It was truly an honour.

After that I studied psychology, social work and interdisciplinary studies at Camosun College, the University of Victoria and Royal Roads University. It taught me to be forward thinking and deliberate.

I started Small Batch because I love the meaning behind things. I collect hockey cards and coins, especially the vintage stuff, because it matters where things come from. I believe Canadians care where their clothing is made, too. So from the ground up, we're veteran-owned and as Canadian-made as I can make it. Canadian pride, done right.
